Win 1 of 2 Free ads that replace my Blog Rush widget
I am always looking for more ways to bring in traffic (aren’t we all?). So I decided to give Blog Rush a try and after three weeks the results are in.

I heard about a lot of people dumping Blog Rush because of how poorly it performs, but I never bothered to look at how much traffic it was sending me until today. The reason why I hadn’t checked earlier was because when I log into my Google Analytics panel and check out the referral sources, it doesn’t even come close to cracking my top ten referral sources (which is what Analytics defaults at showing you) so I never noticed how terrible it performed.
Because I’m taking off the widget and clearing out some space I have decided to give that space away for free. You can win one of two free 125 x 125 ads that will display in the current spot where my Blog Rush widget resides by three ways: commenting on this post, subscribing to my RSS feed via email or by posting about the contest on your blog. A comment counts for one entry, an RSS email subscription counts for five entries and a post on your blog counts for ten entries. You could even just say “Count me in for the contest” or if you want to go a little more in depth that’d be cool too. For the RSS email subscription to count, you must activate the subscription that is sent to your inbox. Additionally, writing about the contest on your blog doesn’t have to be that long. If you just mention the contest in a “weekly link wrap up post” that would suffice.
The contest ends on January 19th where the winners will be randomly chosen. Your ad will run for one month and I’ll write a post about the winners as well.
I reserve the right to ask a winner to change their ad to something else if I don’t think it’s appropriate although I’m sure I won’t have to do this.
Grab five entries now by subscribing to my RSS via email!

Nice! I i’m in. I have something similar on my blog. Drop by and enter before it ends (in 6 days).
Count Me In! I need all the help I can get with traffic, Small Fish Big Money has been battling it out since October 2007 and this would really help us. But, it is all up to you Chris, all the best with everything this year. We are SO IN!
Great contest idea btw! Rock on!
Kind Regards,

[...] Chris Guthrie got in touch to say that he is getting rid of BlogRush on his blog (I would really like to know how well they are doing now AFTER all the hype when they launched) and will instead being placing two 125×125 banner ads there – which you can now win via a contest. [...]
I’m in! Thanks!
Hi there
I blogged about your contest here – http://www.contestbeat.com/win-some-new-advertising/
All we do is write about contests in the blogosphere so hopefully we can send you a few more entries too!
Regards, Matt
[...] Chris Guthrie took the day off (so far–it is only noon CST). He did post on Saturday, regarding a contest he’s holding to give away some ad space on his site. Well, in my Sunday post I’ve just possibly set myself up with ten entries into that contest. How-you-like-that? Now that’s Sunday blogging! [...]

Ok, I’m in the process of selecting the random winners now.
Ooh, I am late by few days I think. That was a good offer though. By the way, you can participate and win 500 credits in the contest I am holding.
I could not grab this opportunity it seems, how about coming up with such ideas often buddy?
Yeah I’ve heard some not so thrilling things about BlogRush and its effectiveness… cool you decided to turn this into a cool prize for someone. I’m sure they got more traffic out of this than you did from BlogRush.
