Thanks, I had a lot of fun doing it. I’ve also been talking to lots of my friends that make money with various methods and niche sites far outside the internet marketing realm as well. That’s what the next podcast will be on. I’m really excited about the next episode and have been having a lot of fun talking to people for these podcasts too :D

Chris, great interview with Joel. I had one of his early adsense books way back when life was complicated. Joel produces good stuff and I would recommended it.

FYI the video is not available in UK but your blog feed goes straight to my iGoogle desktop.

    Hey Adrian,

That’s odd I wonder why they would have region encoding based on some type of region?

So nice to hear another podcast by you! The first one was great, but I’d already heard you previously on at least 2 other podcasts (Pat Flynn’s and I think Online Business Zen?) and practically had your story memorized.

lol, yah I have told my story quite a few times. This one was fun because I got to talk with another entrepreneur instead of just talking about my experiences. I’ve got several more coming up soon with more great entrepreneurs :D

Although I liked the podcast, I feel that Joel is a little bit too “big time” for me to fully relate to. He’s running a multimillion dollar marketing EMPIRE, and unfortunately I cannot really wrap my head around that right now.

YOUR story, on the other hand, is much more my speed. LOL. I am all about dreaming big, but I think that it’s also important to find someone who you can “identify” with.

Hopefully, in some of your future podcasts, you will have a successful person who is more in the $10k – $15k per month range… which is my current goal.

I also know for a fact that some of your subscribers have never even earned their first dollar online, so maybe $10k per month is too high for them to wrap their head around. Maybe for them, you need to throw in an interview with a successful single mom… or a college dropout… or someone who was laid off due to the recession and then became a success in IM, etc.

    Hey Brad,

I have several interesting conversations from other people already recorded. Going to be posting them soon as well.

    Hey Chris

I just listened to your last two podcast–and am just getting into the online marketing / online business market– I am looking at Joel’s book (Kaching…) but was hoping you may have a suggested “how to get started” reading list (including your own ebooks of course!)–but seriously-do you have a recommended list of books and podcasts “where to start” so that I can get grounded in the state of the business now–learn the jargon, learn the latest trends, and just get a foundation under me as I start this new journey?

    Chris Guthrie Reply:

    Hey Jim,

I’m actually working on a free course delivered via email in step by step daily lessons and I’ll be releasing that on the blog soon.

In the mean time feel free to sign up for my newsletter and you’ll see more about it then.

  6. Hi Chris,

I’m wondering how do you get big names like Joel Comm to do a podcast? Do you pay him for that?

I’m sure these gurus are busy and seldom do podcast for small business owners.

Any gurus you have approached rejected you or giving you a hard time?

Good job on the podcast, I’ve basically subscribed everything you listed!

    Keep it up!

I met Joel because I was the consultant for the buyer of his 7 figure website. I didn’t offer him any money, I just asked if he would be available to do it and he was. I’m 99% certain he would probably be too busy for most people to do podcasts but I met him in person and in fact a large number of the guests I’ll have on my podcast are people I’ve met in person. I don’t really go after guru’s per se, I just like to talk to people that are making money online in unusual ways and go from there.
