One of the dumbest things you can do with your online business is to tell someone about a website you own that is making money. So am I an idiot for telling you about websites I’ve made money from on my blog in the past? Well, let me explain:

He teaches several very valuable lessons that apply to any online business and not just the ecommerce space that he operates in.
You’ll love listening to this podcast where Michael discusses how he’s built a great business in this unlikely niche.

Living in America (or any “first world” nation for that matter) puts you in a better position than literally billions of people. Yes there are some people having a rough time here in the states, but I’m sure nothing sucks more than not being able to drink clean water. I know that the success I’ve had with my own business has come from the advantages I’ve been provided by the place I grew up in, the support of my friends and family members and anytime I think that life is sucking I try to remember what life is like for a huge chunk of earth’s population. I’m not perfect by any means nor am I making any suggestion that I am by starting this campaign to raise money for Charity Water. Nearly 1 billion people don’t have access to clean water and $5,000 can help 250 people get access to clean water.

Last night we did our webinar on buying and selling websites. I went into much more detail on a website I purchased earlier this year and have discussed on the blog – CopyCatCrafts.com. I also showed another website I purchased for $500 last year that has since earned me over $5,000 in total profit. I also had two website brokers with me who shared some examples of websites they’ve sold and helped illustrate how to value a website property for sale and get the most for your money when you sell your website. Overall I believe we shared some great lessons that you can apply to websites that you’re looking to buy or sell. Webinar replay below: [click to continue…]

On the webinar we’ll be talking about how to buy and sell websites the right way while we use specific examples from both the buying and selling sides of websites. Thursday will also mark the day that we finally open the doors to our in depth coaching course on buying and selling websites that I’ve been discussing for the past few months (or more). More details about the coaching program will be shared on the webinar, but needless to say this webinar should be a great resource for you to learn more about how to buy and sell websites from people that actually know what they’re talking about.

I’m looking forward to seeing you this Thursday at 5:30 PM PST. If you want to get up to speed some of the tips I’ve shared about this way of making money online be sure to check out these past blog posts.
I’ve been covering a lot of material about buying and selling websites on my blog because one of my only business goals this year was to buy $100,000 worth of websites. I also think there are a lot of opportunities to make money in this space because regardless of Google algorithm changes as long as there is an internet there will be websites making money. One of the main things I look for when I buy a website is how much work it will take for me to run it. Ideally I want to find websites that require minimal upkeep or that can be outsourced to run with minimal involvement from myself. If I have to be writing daily blog posts for a cooking blog I purchased two weeks ago, while I’m negotiating price with an owner of a vintage mustangs website I’ll never be able to fully scale this business model and neither will you.
Why CopyCatCrafts.com Was A Great Purchase

I’m a huge fan of buying websites as a business model (I’ve purchased 3 more websites recently), but one thing I run into frequently are sellers that don’t know how to really sell their own property. There are a couple reasons for this with the first reason being that the property really isn’t worth any money, but the more common reason is lack of experience. I’ve been involved in transactions as low as $500 all the way up to 7 figures (as a buyer’s consultant) and 6 figures for one of my own recent website sales and I’ve learned a few things about how to sell your website for more money that I’d like to share with you:
