Make Money on the Internet

Make Money with Facebook

Facebook is the most visited website in the US even over Google and yet it’s still one of those traffic sources that many marketers have yet to fully embrace – including me. Thankfully, Jonathan Volk (who just happened to interview me last week) has just released a guide on how to make money with Facebook. He just sent me over a copy to review and although I’m still going over it (I will have a full review up tomorrow) I must say this looks like it’s a great source of information for people looking to get started with making money on Facebook.

Primary Topics Covered:

1. A Great Offer (Company to promote)
2. Demographic Research (Knowing who to target)
3. High CTR Ads (Creative and eye catching ads)
4. The Right Bidding Strategy
5. Maximizing Campaign Potential (How I scaled my campaigns to $xxx, xxx+ per month)

As I mentioned before, I haven’t had a chance to go through the guide entirely, but within each section listed above there are nuggets of great information i.e. Use amateur looking photos instead of professional photos in your ads because on average they provide a better conversion rate. This guide is 42 pages long and should only take you a little over an hour to read which is nice because so far I haven’t run into any information that is tossed in simply to fill space.

Sale Price Ends Thursday:

The guide is priced at $97 but until Thursday you can get it for only $79. I’ll have a full review up tomorrow, but Jonathan offers an 8 week money back guarantee so you really have nothing to lose.

Are you currently using Facebook advertising to make money online? From what I have seen so far I think this is a great guide, but my full review will be up tomorrow for those that want to hold off for my final verdict.

Upcoming: On Friday I’ll be sharing another income report which outlines how I make my money online and later next week I have several exciting posts to share as well so don’t miss out.

Hmm, i was expecting something more than … this, when i first read the title of the post in the reader. I was hoping you were sharing some strategies and i could compare/comment with mine, etc.

  2. Well, in a way I am. I just woke up a few moments ago but my next task is to finish reading through the guide and post a full review. Sorry if the title was misleading but that’s what his guide aims to do and I personally am a noob when it comes to Facebook advertising. I’ve never done it before actually and from what I’ve seen in the guide I can see how I can implement the strategies he discussed to make money via affiliate marketing and more importantly – by selling my own products. I have a completely unrelated product to internet marketing I’m launching in September which I’ll cover here on this blog as a case study and I’m going to be using Facebook to drive traffic to it.

The only thing I’m surprised is it took you this long to become another guru bummer. I thought that your blog was different but that was just a deception just like everyone else you are trying to glean money from our pockets with reviews like this.

    Hey John,

Where did I over hype this product in any way? I can understand if you’ve purchased products or services before that failed to live up to the hype because quite frankly – none of them do (especially if you expect to just read them and watch money flow in like magic). I covered Jonathan’s Facebook guide launch because I know him fairly well and believe he wouldn’t put out a shitty product. Then after reading through the guide I believe the information he shares is pretty good for people looking to get started in advertising on Facebook (someone like me).

I haven’t used Facebook advertising before but I plan to use it for a product launch in a niche completely unrelated to internet marketing and I know some of the tips I’ve read in his guide will help me avoid some common mistakes but more importantly avoid wasting money with things he’s already proven to not work based on his own experience.

I can understand where you’re coming from with the attitude, but as I’ve mentioned numerous times on this blog before I don’t want to ever burn a bridge with a reader which is why I only recommend products and services that I believe are truly valuable. I do this to build trust and quite frankly, not everything in life will be free so sometimes I’ll discuss a product that you might have to pay for. Besides, what would be the benefit for him releasing this information for free?

    Mike Reply:

Chris, in my opinion people get scared of recommendations… In the last years, I’ve burned myself a couple of times. I’m not criticizing anything, nor you or the book (which I haven’t read so it might be very good), just saying. When i see an affiliate link, that kind of lowers my trust instantly :) ) And I think John thinks like me too.

Like I said, I hope you won’t be upset with this comment, it’s just what i think, I can’t speak for everyone.

Hey Mike, I understand where you’re coming from but you also have to understand that people promoting products on any blog are always going to be using an affiliate link. Of course I would be paid if you bought it, but there is a reason why I only post reviews of products on occasion because the people that do so on a daily basis are only looking to make a quick buck. On my blog this is actually the very first information product I’ve bothered to discuss (except for perhaps the Shoemoney System which is aimed almost exclusively at beginners). In both instances I know the person that created it and in Shoemoney’s case I’ve even met him in person.

There is bound to be some information worth paying for in my opinion which is why I paid $5k to go to the Elite Retreat back in October 2009.

I’m with John on this one. How can you review the eBook with any real authority after admitting you don’t know how to make money using Facebook? Anyone can give that kind of review. Absolutely anyone.

All you can say is that it sounds like it will work. You seem to want to get some real respect from your readers and have people trust your opinion. That means they want to know what will work because you are doing it.

I don’t think your “readers” want you to throw out your affiliate link and say good things about something just because you got a free copy and its a new release. I think if you want real respect, you should rethink this.

    Chris Guthrie Reply:

Ah Jack, I was waiting for a comment from you and I’m happy to see you didn’t disappoint.

When it comes to reviewing a product I like to first start by either only recommending products and services I’ve personally used and/or know and trust the person promoting it.

i.e. Shoemoney System is the only other info product I’ve promoted on this blog in 2010. I met Jeremy after paying $5k and going to Elite Retreat and I knew that what he had to offer would be great for beginners so I promoted it.

Going back to your point about not knowing how to make money using Facebook – that’s precisely my point in choosing to talk about it. I don’t know even where to start when it comes to Facebook Advertising and so it was easy to read through the guide and learn what he’s found to work best while at the same time saving me money in the future. If I trust the creator behind a product or the person recommending it then I can also trust the conclusions they’ve come to as well. So when I go about trying Facebook Advertising I can avoid wasting money doing the things he has found not to work and instead to use the things he has found to work.

Come September when I launch my information product in a niche completely unrelated to internet marketing and drive traffic to it using exclusively Facebook I will use what I learned from this guide.

If you think I write only good reviews then perhaps you haven’t been reading very long. Just search InfoLinks and/or Kontera on my blog.

  5. Matt says:

@Mike – Hypocrisy? You have amazon affiliate links in your blog posts so what exactly is the difference? …
@’Jack Bauer’ & John – True anyone can review something like this, but they dont have the experience of making money online like Chris does. I personally find it valuable for someone (Chris) who has read a bunch of guides, bought a lot of ‘make money online’ packages, and learned a lot of lessons the hard way to read through something and provide their 2 cents on it as they can smell BS from a mile away.
@Both – It would not benefit him to push a new product that he didn’t believe in, that actually was crap, as then he loses credibility.

I also find it amusing when readers criticize writers on their blogs using a stage name with no link back to their own blog. I must say I give them and their opinion zero credibility. I give Mike credit for commenting and linking to his site, that enables the writer and other readers to have a meaningful dialogue. You JB & John, are just trolls.

    Jack Bauer Reply:

Then I guess you are a troll too, Matt.

    Chris Guthrie Reply:

I think he meant it more about using a fake name and no URL and then criticizing people (emphasis on criticizing). I do think it’s humorous that you choose to spend your time harping on me with a fake name and no URL and that you have stated you live in WA yet don’t want to meet up for coffee sometime.

  6. John says:

The problem as I see it Chris, and I apologise for the attitude in my previous post, is that I have read a number of these facebook guides and even though some were good the information I received from them is no different to the free information I have read elsewhere a number of times, all they have done is repackage it and sell it for $$.

This is what all of the IM bloggers review all of the time, but I thought because you said this site wasn’t about money that you wouldn’t be doing this. It is the same with your best WP plugins, you can get the same results that some of those plugins provide using free alternative plugins; you may say they are not as good but the paid versions are not that good that they are worth the price tag more than the free ones!

So swerve the reviews and get back to what we are all here to read; how much did you make in May?

    [Reply]

    Chris Guthrie Reply:

So have you started making money on Facebook then? Or still working at it?

Yes my blog isn’t all about the money but on occasion I will cover products or services that I believe are worth looking at and who knows I may launch a product at a later date (people keep emailing me asking for an in depth guide to Amazon).

As for the best wordpress plugins post, I spent several hours contacting those companies to get the promo codes you saw there so I believe it was a big value add. I am not aware of free plugins that can do the same as the list I included perhaps you could email me all of the alternatives and I’ll try them out? This still goes back to my point though that not everything is going to be free I believe sometimes it’s worth it to spend the money.

My income results will be posted Friday

Imagine paying a measly $79 dollars to learn how to make millions on Facebook from a Facebook money-making millionaire!

Chris, I have learned how to become a millionaire in other industries by being coachable and a good copy-cat of other millionaires.

I bought and read Jonathan’s book and it is truly very good. And like you, I have gone to retreats for 5k+ to learn from the best. I have also paid $20 from a book and made $30k off of one idea in the book.

So, one can make money from free to hundred thousands of products, services and workshops if one THINKS they can.

It’s all good. So, promote away!!!!!! You and I both know it will make you and those that have the prosperity consciousness a lot of money to save the world from the skeptics…..

Besides, how are you going to able to be like Oprah and Warren Buffet and give a lot of your money to a worthy cause if you don’t make any money?

Financial Freedom ain’t free, it requires an investment of time, energy and MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
