Forget eBay use WP Auctions instead!
My good friend Hyder over at Weborithm sent me an email the other day about his nifty new plugin WP Auctions. Now for those of you with short memory spans - Hyder is the designer behind the new theme here at ChrisGuthrie.net, so when I received his email I was eager to see what this plugin had to offer. In a nutshell, this plugin allows you to cut out the middle man and list items up for auction on your blog without paying any fees!

Generate free traffic to your blog from visitors viewing the live auctions
Sell products with or without a buy it now option

You can see the plugin I'm running in action on the bottom of my sidebar with the Wind style. In fact, I'm currently offering an auction for a 125 x 125 Blog Ad on my sidebar. The proceeds of the sale all go towards an organization called Team In Training who helps to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
I should also mention that you can also purchase a customized style for your plugin for the price of $48.99. Hyder has a little bit of a backlog although I'll be getting the customized style soon and you'll be able to see that as well.
In any case, I really love the feature set offered in this plugin as I only noticed a couple minor things that I'd do differently; however, I spoke with Hyder and he let me know there are plenty of updates in the works. In fact, another great aspect of this plugin is that for only $24.99 (Update: 12/11/09 - plugin is $39.99 now) you receive free upgrades for life too!

Sounds like a great way to go and the widget looks pretty good. I’ll just have to clear the funds I have in ebay first then might swap over.
That sounds like a really useful plug-in. I will have to keep it in mind when I’m ready to launch my next project

Yah you can implement it easy. It automatically creates a widget for you upon install and all you need to do is drag and drop the widget into whichever sidebar you want to use it in.

Hey dip-wad… where is your auction? Why is it that people promoting this plugin don’t have it on their website? FRAUD ???
Have you noticed I wrote this post over a year ago? Also, I don’t use the plugin much as I don’t have a need to on this particular blog.
Can payment still be handled through Pay Pal with WP auctions?
