Case study: vBSEO on GamingVidz.com
The primary focus of my blog is to help my fellow webmasters increase their forum traffic and in turn their revenue. So when I heard that vBSEO had a 48 hour sale to celebrate the release of vBSEO 3.0 Gold I jumped at the opportunity to it at a cheaper price. A license of vBSEO usually costs $149, but at the beginning of the two day sale they were just $117 each. Either way, I've heard so many good things about the plugin that I was going to buy them for $149 each anyway but then the sale came along, so I caught a break and picked up two licenses. The first site I installed vBSEO on was GamingVidz.com and I did so on April 14th 2007. I am using a few different plugin's on there for the video database, so it required a little more custom work that I had to finish up the next day.
In any case I should have done these numbers before I installed vBSEO, but I don't think that being two days late will really matter. Here are the results from a site:gamingvidz.com search on various search engines:
site:gamingvidz.com (Google) 34,300 results
site:gamingvidz.com (Yahoo) 10,074 results
site:gamingvidz.com (MSN) 120 results
I will be tracking these numbers weekly, but I'm also going to be tracking other data through Google Analytics and AWStats such as where the traffic comes from and how many of the people that come to the site are new visitors or returning ones. Obviously the returning visitor count is pretty big because GamingVidz.com is a forum, but I'm most interested in seeing how many more new visitors come to the site as a result of finding us through a search engine.
