Make Money on the Internet

Blog Income Report – January 2009

January marks the tenth month that I’ve offered advertising on my blog and although I didn’t have a lot of posts I still managed to do pretty well.

Check out the earnings break down here:

Private Ad Sales: $130
Sponsored Reviews: $0
Affiliate Sales: $22.35

Grand Total: $152.35

Earnings Analysis:

This month I finally sold my 468 x 60 banner ad to URLJet, before that I sold it to the same advertiser for several months in a row at $35 a month. In the past it was one of my most popular ad slots and will be up for renewal in the middle of February unless URLJet decides to renew it. Click here to purchase in advance.

Also, another banner that was popular when I first started offering advertising is the 300 x 250 inline ad which is available for $75. When this slot is filled it is not rotated, in fact only one banner will be featured there and it is the only advertisement in the RSS feed as well. For several months it was sold out from the time I first began offering advertising so I am still surprised I haven’t sold it recently. Click here to buy it.

As for the sidebar banner ads these have actually been doing very well for the past few months and this month was not an exception. Three of the six slots are full so if you want a 125 x 125 sidebar banner ad for only $15 a month take advantage now. I’m also going to be doing another deal with Motive Interactive for a six month package (just waiting on payment now). I wrote a Motive Interactive Review here that you can check out. Again, there are only 3 slots left so be sure to purchase a sidebar banner ad ASAP if you want a spot.

As I mentioned in last month’s post I’m going to be redoing text links soon. I believe that I could make more money if I offered extended periods of time for text links (i.e. 3 or 6 months) for page specific links as opposed to site wide links. That would open up my inventory and allow people to target pages that relate to their content more efficiently. What do you think? Last month I mentioned this but I didn’t get a lot of feedback and I’m interested to see if other bloggers are doing their links on a page by page basis or not. In the mean time, feel free to pick up a text link before I move over to the new system click here to purchase a $10 site wide text link ad.

January Wrap Up

The biggest news from January was the discussion around my long term goal of self employment by April 2011. This is based upon the timing of my wife getting her masters degree so she can take care of the medical insurance and I can focus full time on my online ventures. I will be documenting this journey for the next two years and am confident I can reach this goal, so if this sounds like something interesting to you be sure to Subscribe to my RSS feed here.

  4. Hey Dot Com Dud,

Yah I saw that and responded on his post there as well. Do you have other websites that you run or just your blog?

Right now it’s just my blog. I’ve had some others but I’ve neglected them in recent times. Going to start a couple new sites over the next two weeks though, I figure I need to diversify if I want to earn more money.
