Annoying. Even if it's only once. With that said, it still might be a good idea for those webmasters/bloggers who are actively looking to increase their subscriber count.

For those that clear cookies every night, it will pop up every time...I assume a lot of people still do that.

But do you think it's annoying even if it's only displayed once for a visitor though?

Caroline Middlebrook has one that doesn't black out the screen....if you must, then that is the least annoying, but not by much.

I removed my pop up because I think like Wei, I hate all those windows appearing over everything, forcing me to check something.... I set one on my blog to make a test, just for that. I removed in two weeks...

However, personally I think that popups are a good resource to attract the people attention. May be they could be annoying for someone but it has its conversion rate...

Well, actually the way most people have it set up is to show just once. So that's how they try to combat the fact that it can be annoying.

But I wonder if just displaying it once can upset a visitor enough to make them not come anymore.

Actually, I pretty hate to see a pop-up like this on blogs. Especially on the ones I frequent often because I have already signed up.

There could be a plugin to show the pop-up only to non-subscribers which will make more sense. Or else, this will irritates the regular readers of the blog.
